I’ll be leaving from Nuremburg, Germany and plan to get to Helsinki on Friday 2nd.
Anyone else planning to arrive then?
16.10.2017, 09:56 #245197I have two questions for the organisation.
On the route page it says the raid will start the 3rd of Februari. We are thinking of taking the farry from Travemunde.
On the current shedule it looks like the boat will dock at 9 in the morning. Are we going to be in time if we dock the 3rd or should we try to book an earlier boat?We are thinking about renting tires, but we are also thinking to drive through sweden from Aavasaksa. Is it possible to return the tires later? and is it possible with normal all season tires?
Otherwise we are going to search for tyres near here.16.10.2017, 21:42 #245231Hello Tim,
what is your ship route, are you coming to Vuosaari? Then it´s okay. Our raid is starting from Vuosaari, Helsinki 10.00. Next is tires changing in Teippari (Helsinki).
Yes, you can leave tires later in Helsinki.
Normal all season tires is very slippery in our really icy roads, so it´s really not recommended. Your need good Nordic type friction tires or good not hard stubble tires.

Adress is Askolantie 20, Helsinki. Not Tuusula. I´m living in Tuusula, but it is an other story.2.11.2017, 21:48 #245898Hi !!
Might be good idea to add postalcodes to routedescribtion, not all partisipant now regions in finnland by hearth. :))
Lasse2.11.2017, 22:21 #245900Might be good idea to add postalcodes to routedescribtion, not all partisipant now regions in finnland by hearth. :))
Maybe next update. Any one can also type name of the place to to google, its easy to find the place – try it with this link 😉
All partisipants get printed four color roadmap before the start, so all can find to all important places. And all accommodations is already booked by organization team, so you don’t need exact address of places yet. More price information is promised end off this week, but because of my work trip it is maybe not until sunday evening.

We are planning to take the boat on 2/2 03:00, from Travemunde to Helsinki.
We are looking for another team to join us so we can split the costs for the cabin.
(normal price = +/- 350€, splitted price is 420/2€)
For faster communucation, interested people can mail me

Soon we will see us all in Helsinki.
Some special wishes from someone to bring to Helsinki from Austria?
Thats my first Raid and so i not known anyone on this Raid.
I read in some Storys about things they not easy to get in Scandinavia.12.1.2018, 23:56 #248080Hi fastpage, I think we can get most things in Scandinavia, though on some particular items the price tag is the tricky part 😉 If you want to make friends, bring a bottle of multi malt whisky.. I know at least one participant (not me) whom is very keep on that 😀
Spass bei seite, I have some technical questions for organizers or experienced Lapland raiders:
Oil… I did an oil change to 0W40 on Wednesday but before and after several people questioned the use of thin synthetic oil.. I know it is one of the organizations’ recommendations, but do you really run this thin stuff?? and do you have almost only good experiences with it in 2CVs? No oil leaks or worse engine damage?
Both a Finnish and a Swedish colleague here in Södertälje (both with roots in the north) said they would make a different choice and run slightly thinner but oil still commonly used on old engines, like 10W40.Spare tires: is just one enough or should I bring two?
